- Comprehend complex signed text on both abstract and concrete matters.
- Extrapolate the meaning, from contextual cues, of unfamiliar signed phrases and words, and intention of the Auslan text.
- Extract information content from recorded Auslan texts delivered in standard or local sign and identify signers’ mood and tone.
- Comprehend signed announcements and messages on abstract and concrete topics in standard or local sign at normal speed.
- Follow content, with some effort, of live discussion between proficient or native signers.
- Process vocabulary and grammar for signed exchanges on both abstract and concrete matters.
- Present in Auslan on abstract and concrete subjects.
- Engage in spontaneous Auslan conversations on abstract and concrete subjects.
- Initiate, maintain and close extended face-to-face conversations on both abstract and concrete topics.
- Pronounce signs clearly and naturally with intonation.
- Produce stretches of text with fairly even tempo and spontaneity with infrequent pauses and hesitation.
- Follow, in detail, signing of proficient or native speakers when delivered in standard sign.
- Ask follow-up questions to check understanding of what other signer has said and to clarify ambiguous points.
